Compressed Air Energy Project

In a CAES plant, ambient air or another gas is compressed and stored under pressure in an underground cavern or container. When electricity is required, the pressurized air is heated and expanded in an expansion turbine driving a generator for power production.

For the first time in Egypt, we are currently preparing for two CAES projects for storage and power production in two sites in the Eastern Desert and the Western Desert respectively to make use of the widespread karstic caves in Egypt.

The project is at its beginning stage and the negotiation for securing an Environmental Fund is underway with several international agencies.
